They say it takes 10 thousand hours to become a master of something, but if you love doing it, it really isn't that hard. While you sit here on FJ someone else is mastering what they love. While you sleep for 12 hours, someone else is mastering what they love. You can too, do what you love and don't stop doing it. I am 23 years old and I have already mastered masturbation, what's your excuse.

The 10 000 hour rule was popularized by Malcolm Gladwell in his book Outliers. The idea was based on some research Anders Ericsson did.

Thing is, 10 000 hours don't mean much unless you HONE and PERFECT the skill, as it has been suggested by recent studies.

I've easily spent 10 000 hours playing Dota/Dota 2 combined. While I am pretty damn good, I'm not a master like the players you see that compete for millions of dollars.

There is a thing called "stagnation", a point where you reach a certain level of skill, and unless you do things to challenge that skill level and hone it, you will not get any better.

Just my two cents.
