I realize that he was a minor, but let's be honest. He was 14. Old enough to be in high school, probably is in high school. You should know your rights. I did at that age and I was never arrested, still haven't been. Just the basic rights, you don't need to know the complicated **** . Don't question me without an adult, right to remain silent, and one free phone call. That's really the only 3 things a kid needs to know when arrested and two of them apply to adults. Technically the first one is the same for adults, just add lawyer.

Well sure. I think most people at that age would be scared, including myself. Although his teacher did tell him not to show it to anyone else because it looked bad. He should've already known after that. Scared is fine, idiotic is not fine. Personally the only thing that anyone did wrong was charging him with hoax bomb. He didn't try to fool anyone into thinking it was a bomb, so that charge was unnecessary. But getting detained, questioned, etc. was to be expected. Not sure but some did say he was questioned by the police without his parents, but I'm too lazy to check if that's legit or not. I doubt it was true but if it happened that's unlawful of the police.
