You'll want a fast weapon to fight Gascoigne, because you need to match his speed, and he's still just as fast in Beast Mode.
Gascoigne was super easy for me, because I could get inside his head, I understood his tactics, he was going where I was weak, and I could counteract him and match him blow for blow, and that's while he'll always be my favorite boss fight.

tenaciouslee [OP]ONLINE (12/22/2015) [-] The Saw Cleaver is actually a fantastic weapon to use against Gascoigne, as it's only a wee bit slower than the Threaded Cane and only a wee bit weaker than the Hunter's Ax.
Use it, you'll need to match him step for step.
A skill build with the Threaded Cane + Hunter's Pistol will carry you through a lot of boss fights based on speed alone.

i ended up just using the tombstones for cover and womping him over the head with the holy cement block of concussions until he went beast mode, then just kiting him up the stairs, throw a molotov as he came up them, run around and jump off through the hole in the fence. Rince and repeat

satrenkotheone (12/22/2015) [-] Yeah but my Str was 11, Skill 12, Bloodtinge 9 and Arcane was 7 so there was a bit of a difference, most of my levels were endurance and vit until I cap them out on 30 for the meantime.

Like, if I remember correctly, the Hunter's Ax used to swing slow, but I dumped levels into Strength and Bloodtinge because Cannon, and the Ax was slightly faster because I was stronger.

I don't know if there's a Spear Hunter build, but that's what I'm trying to go for.

Skill+bloodtinge, quality or arcane hybrids can work now with the new arcane items being added into the DLC. And pure str builds get more options to mess around with.

It's got good two-handed speed, as opposed to the Hunter's Ax, it's only a tad bit slower than the Blunderbuss when firing, so good timing is great for reposts, and the range on the charged R2 is ******* insano membrano.
