For pretty much all these statistics (and sources) the assumption seems to be a correlation between all these problems and being black, that being black makes you more likely to commit crime and worsen the socioeconomic state of America. The truth is that if a white person, mexican, asian-whoever was in the same position that the majority or the black community causing these statistics are in; they would be the same only that there would be a different race involved. It is a horrible lie to say or to suggest that black people are just 'worse' than everyone else and that because of someones race (what you are rather than who you are) you are more likely to be act a certain way. Im sure its easy for you to look down on the working class from the comfort of your upper-middle class suburban home; but the truth is that race didnt cause these issues, they are societal; poverty did. If you raised in the shoes of these people you would be no different.

tl;dr: Maybe this is a sign we should try and solve our underlying social problems rather than kicking people out and blaming race.

Just want to point out that in order to be part of the working class you have to actually work. Don't tell me McDonald's isn't hiring. The biggest issue with the lower class of any race is the sense of entitlement they all have. This post comes from a member of the working class who came from the lower class.

The problem isn't race it's culture, I agree. It's the whole "Ghetto Culture" that's formed generally around the black community. The causes and solutions are up for debate, it's not ONLY poverty that's caused a problem, although I do believe poverty plays a fundamental role.

Just tell me one thing:

Did you steal that last sentence from that comment above yours or did you two guys just randomly come up with pretty much the same phrase?

Wellll... Race kinda did cause the societal issue .__.
Don't get my wrong, not because blacks are inferior in any way. Just because racism was an accepted part of society for a long time. What we're dealing with now are the societal issues caused by this racism
Kinda.
Please don't burn me

I couldn't have said it better myself. I was actually feeling pretty disappointed with the amount of ignorance in the comments and I read yours. Thank you. You really should be top comment for this content. You make a sociologist proud.

Very correct! This is the same prejudices that the Nazis had towards the jews.
#663 to #243 - anonymous (12/09/2013) [-]
its the opposite, the nazis target the jews because they remained economically stable through the hardships that were facing the nation at the time. Jews had their own little communities, and because of this they ending up only buying/selling stuff from/to other jews, so it was easy for the propaganda makers to fabricate claims that they were plotting against the nation as a whole.

You spoke my mind.

Thanks.

Except there are more whites than there are blacks in poverty, yet we don't see these kind of rates with white people like we do with black people.
User avatar #85 to #61 - callmefrosty (12/08/2013) [-]
In our society I think you'd be far more likely to start doing drugs, or join if you were black. They're more likely to fall into these vices because society views them in a very negative light. When most people think of poor white family they think of some overworked parent who is trying to support their children, while when most people think of a poor black family they imagine a single mom (because the father just straight up left) who lives in the hood with her kids collecting welfare all day long.

tl;dr; It's about what people think you, not your skin color.

I'm sorry but people thinking certain things about you doesn't excuse behavior, i'm sure there were a great many serial killers who were treated like absolute **** , it doesn't make them any less terrible, or excuse what they did.
User avatar #293 to #95 - hoponthefeelstrain (12/08/2013) [-]
If people always tell you you're going to amount to **** , that's probably all you'll do. You can get 99 compliments but they wont matter if you got 1 negative comment because then you'll start questioning yourself.
#694 to #293 - anonymous (12/09/2013) [-]
That doesn't excuse behavior, by this logic we can't blame Adolf for killing the jews because someone told him his paintings were **** .
User avatar #695 to #694 - hoponthefeelstrain (12/09/2013) [-]
I don't mean that I mean. Let's say your whole life everyone (even your teachers, and random fags on the internet) tell you, you're **** . You'll never amount to **** . You're listening to music and your favorite musician speaks to you, he's got easy money and he's got beautiful girls throwing themselves at him all the time ( just about every teenage boys dream). And said musician will probably never have to work another day in their life. So now you think " we'll why try and get an education, when I'm too stupid for school anyway when I can just rap about trivial **** and make loads of money." and with that they adopt the rapper culture, trying to look/sound cool. Dress how the rappers dress and sadly have sex with a bunch of girls and then they don't want to step up to the responsibility because they're not ready. That wasn't apart of the song lyrics and being tied down by a baby isn't apart of the "gangsta" life. Since some of them grew up without dads they never had a positive male role model so instead they decide to try and be Rappers. And when their child is born the cycle continues.

Don't you think there's a reason whites aren't in that position? Like dunno, whites aren't allergic to jobs being one.
User avatar #669 to #55 - callmefrosty (12/09/2013) [-]
Actually, whites having ancestors that had far more wealth and political power, are why these things happen, not because people are, or are not allergic to jobs.

Oh, so people in my country (we were enslaved for 500 years) should be doing crappy too?
User avatar #715 to #708 - callmefrosty (12/10/2013) [-]
If your country didn't do anything to help those people, like in the US, then yes.
