The only "irrational" fear I have is heights - and even then if It's a roller coaster or one of those glass floor things I don't feel it (but I'll be worse than most when it comes to standing near a cliff edge, need to lie down to look over etc, don't like low railings)
So dangerous animals at zoo's, no problem.
But I went to the lion enclosure and a lioness walked over to the cage/me - still no issue.. her eyes lit up like a playful cat and she roared and jesus it **** me up, felt shocked/giddy/scared after it because it just brought fear up from no where, was quite a cool experience really.
Personally I think that's a stupid myth. Otherwise you'd get panic attacks from riding the bus, or going on a cruise ship. Both of those have constant infrasound rumble going on.
I dunno... We had 5 cats at one point because we were stupid enough not to fix one of them and it had 7 kittens, we got rid of 4 to homes and fixed the other right away (so 2 adults, 1 had 7 kittens)
Anyway - of the 3 remaining, 2 were heavenly gentle kind creatures, the other was a complete dick - bullying others off their food, couldn't go near her without lashing out, couldn't pick her up like the other two, completely different temperament.
I get that maybe she just didn't like being picked up, fair enough, but always on attack mode and didn't sleep playful, ears back hissing sort of thing.
All raised the same by us, just a straight up dick cat - now if we had given that cat to another owner you could/would likely come to the conclusion we were good with our two and they had treated the other badly/"raised" it wrong - but in our environment... nope, just a dick cat..
