**sedativechunk rolled image** Thank you for posting that comment. I'm a developer myself (of websites, games, and everything in between) and alot of times the dev's don't get the respect they deserve. I know people don't always think highly of EA but the developers of these games sure do bust their ass on their titles none the less, especially Battlefield which is their flagship game.

The thing that gets me the most is too many people today blow through games without enjoying the little things, especially in single player/co op. Let's take that radio tower in this video for example. Some developer (possibly more than one) probably spent 2-5 days of work time modeling and texturing that simple object for the game. Alot of people won't look twice at it but it's those kinds of things that someone, somewhere took time to make that object in the game and it's those little details that make these big budget games so real and fun. That rocket sound effect, it probably took one or more sound engineers 6-8 months of time to come up with that. For people like DICE, they probably go through the trouble of recording life/real rocket firings at a test site and then incorporate them into the game with Doppler effects and more. They they probably test it in game 1,000+ times to make sure it doesn't clip, pans correctly, and everything else.

In battlefield 4, on certain places of the map, Firing a rocket launcher sounds amazing. For instance, they said on map taking place under a giant radar dish, Firing an RPG was supposed to sound like the noise was hitting the radar dish, then the ground, over and over as it goes under the dish. Amazing.

Be advised, in BF3 engineers didn't have a choice. If you wanted an unguided missile launcher, you either got the SMAW if you were American or the RPG if you were Russian. There was no ability to use SMAW as Russian or RPG as American.

Still, AWPers can kill you before you can even see them from bad angles. Plus, if he's playing against skilled opponents it's to be expected. You can't kick ass all of the time.

i mean, not to be THAT guy, but in the last few frames there, the pistol round is moving faster than the RPG, that's completely wrong and actually one of my pet peeves about current videogames.

Cool gif tho.

But it's not from a video game. It's from a movie.

Also, I'm no expert, but I thought pistol rounds go at roughly Mach 1. Don't RPGs go considerably slower?

i can see that, but OP's post is about videogames.

Also, no. Well, yes. Kinda. Depending on the pistol round, but yes, RPGs are fairly slow (if you can consider 120 m/s a second slow) pistol rounds travel between 150 and 300 m/s.

But the majority of rockets and missiles, particularly anti-air missiles, travel in excess of 750 m/s (or in the case of the starstreak, almost 1400 m/s)

In summation, i was actualyl wrong about RPGs, but my point about rockets and missiles in general within videogames still stands

most pistol rounds travel in excess of 300m/s (1000 ft/s)

starstreak is closer to 1200m/s (still ******* fast)
