The thing is that, per agreement across Schengen, they need to be registered in the first country within the Schengen Zone that they enter. After being registered they would be distributed over all the other countries in the Schengen Area, again per agreement.
The problem is that these refugees seemingly simply refuse to have themselves properly registered like that, they'd need to get registered in Hungary but they simply go ' **** Hungary, we want Germooney'. You can't swarm Germany with half a million refugees, they can't deal with that many. Europe is trying to get them a nice place before winter in an orderly fashion and they refuse to accept the help that is offered, they throw away water and food and demand (DEMAND?!) to be taken in by the country of their choice. It doesn't work that way, the way I see it they stop being refugees the moment they refuse to accept that this is the plan Europe has established to help them; the moment they decide to enter the Schengen Zone and travel within Schengen without registration they've become illegal immigrants instead of refugees and should be treated as such.
It's absurd that for the first time in decades we have to close our borders again. As if we're at war: at war with these refugees. Don't they see that they're only dividing Europe further as it struggles to tackle this crisis as a union? That they're only creating extra chaos at the expense of the actual people that live here and they want help from, the Europeans?
I lost it at EU armpit Anyway today they started entering Croatia, I've seen some of them here in Zagreb. While I'm sorry for these people and will donate some stuff, I remain a realist.
We will simply HAVE to close the border to Serbia by tomorrow evening. We simply don't have the capacity to handle more than 15 000 refugees, and Slovenia shut down it's borders so they can't continue their journey towards Austria/Germany and the ******* Hungarians now want to build a fence/wall on our borders as well. The only option would be to ship them to Italy...
Unfortunately this is no longer about us showing that we are humane, this is about organisation and our (in)ability to help these people, a sad state of afairs if you ask me.
It's a bit chaotic at the borders right now, and the migrants are starting to build tents in the center of Zagreb, so yeah it's all out of control but I wouldn't say that these guys are a threat to us, although winter is coming here in a mere month and a half, and by then we need to find shelter for these guys.
Depends where your relative is flying to, no need to worry if he's going to stay at the coast, there are no refugees there, and it's unlikely that they will head into that direction. On the other hand if he's going to Zagreb he will most likely encounter them, though as I said, I don't believe that they pose a threat, for now.
They're rude, loud and aggressive, especially if they're not being given free stuff.
They are a threat to an average civilian, especially a female.
It's not your responsibility to find shelter for them, if they chose to go on a backpacking trip in Winter, let them get on with it.
Well I have to defend my countrymen here, everyone did their best to help these people, and the locals in Slavonija helped them in every way they could, you won't find articles in English how the locals of a small village banded together and collected all empty bottles they could, filled them with water and gave it all out with free bread, jam and other food. These people do feel a lot of empathy towards the refugees because 24 years ago they themselves were driven from their homes when the Serbs invaded that very same region. www.vijesti.rtl.hr/novosti/hrvatska/1761629/na-suze-ovog-gospodina-necete-ostati-ravnodusni-dao-sam-im-svu-unukovu-obucu-sve-smo-mi-to-prosli/ here's an article and video, while you won't understand what he's saying, people who speak the language here will confirm what I'm talking about, the people there are quite sensitive to the refugee problem
As for the government, huh that isn't really that easy to answer. Nominally the social-democrat party (which is at the end of it's term, elections are in a month or so) is a left-liberal political party, but in reality they are somewhat more center-liberals.
They aren't sjws as this isn't really a thing here, but they have other problems - mostly incompetence (as seen with their inability to properly prepare for this crisis, although they had months to prepare), obnoxiousness (Milanović, the PM is a loudmouth asshat) and nepotism/corruption, but that's a pretty standard problem of western Balkan politics.
**concetrationcamp used "*roll picture*"** **concetrationcamp rolled image** if you donate "some stuff" even more people will come...it is just like feeding pigeons
I'm sorry, I did speak a little harshly, but yesterday I felt as if the EU had betrayed us, you guys shut yourselves off with walls and the Slovenian dickheads wouldn't even provide a small corridor for the refugees to travel to Styria, thus leaving these poor sods stranded here. But it seems Orban came to his senses, these guys need to move on north, or else both you, us and the Serbs are pretty much ****** . Also I'm from Virovitica originally, I love coming to the Barcs pools, cheers.
Yeah mate it's all right, our feelings get the better of us sometimes.
I know how you feel actually, but Hungarians feel the same, all we get told by the Westerner countries is that "YOU SHOULDNT DO THAT, HOW DARE YOU" to pretty much anything that we might do, even though we're trying to upkeep the Schengen border, our duty theoretically.
Even a lot of foreigner professionals who were called here say that during meetings its appearant that Hungarian officials feel left alone, because there's literally no help coming from the west on how to fix the problems stemming from the immigrants going through our countries.
Well, it's important to stick together at least, hopefully Croatia and Hungary will come to an understanding
Just shoot all of them that come to you and drive them back to their contries. That is the solution of the west stop bitching because we have different solutions than you do.
Yes, I hope that too, we had too much history together (for better and worse) to be at each-others throats.
That's exactly what I'm thinking right now, I was very pro EU for the last few years as I've seen the great economic growth it can bring and how well they solved a lot of common problems. But today I realized that what we call "european values" are an illusion, it may work in legal and economic fields where common interest is shared, but in situations like these where many stand to loose we have shown just how the EU is really divided, it saddens me really. And what's even more infuriating to me is how the western countries tend to give us less developed EU countries "moral lessons" but then they show their true inhumane and hypocritical nature.
This is the first real crisis of the EU actually, we can see it as a test to see how well it can work in the future. The more developed countries will either side with and help us or they will leave us, but that would just show that there was no real point in this Union other than a spurt of economic growth for a few years.
Hopefully they'll get their heads out of their asses.
Being a trashman in Germany is paid very well for the kind of education it requires. Plus you are an employee of the state which means extra benefits and your wage is raised every 5 years or so.
Taiwan speaks mandarin but if you really want to start **** , you can go check the list of officially recognized countries by the UN and try to find Taiwan
is it actually true that around 90% (or similarly high percentage) of "refugees" are just people posing as refugees? like people not in need of fleeing?
this makes me despise humanity to an even greater extent...
friend of mine's (i think his family fled Chechnya) brother almost had his head blown off bulled grazing the top of his head while they were trying to flee the country, great guy overall havent been in contact with him for a long while though...
