Yeah, this trailer has been out for a while. In fact, when I posted the MP4 of it when it first came out, nobody cared.
And mainstream? Are people here so ******* useless that all they can do all day is worry over a kid's movie? So what, they used the term "Anthropomorphic." Who gives a **** ? MANY Disney movies have done this, one of them starring, guess this, a FOX.
Anthropomorphic is the correct term. Go cry me a ******* river. the amount of people upset over this is unbelievable. "Oh nos, the furries will like it!" Who gives a **** if they like it, I'm sure that furries like Pulp Fiction, does that mean we scream and cry and hate Pulp Fiction? Get the **** over yourselves, for real. All I see when this movie is mentioned is how much people hate it because furries, they aren't even judging the movie itself!
So according to FJ, having anthropomorphised animals in a show or movie makes it yiff-bait? Thats like saying the Straight Out Of Compton was going to create violence amongst the viewers Which it didn't Like seriously, theaters were bulking up security for that **** like Ferguson 2: Electric Boogaloo was supposed to go down or some **** . If anything, security should be bulked up for Star Wars and Superman V Batman. Only crazy white folk shoot up theaters. Regular people are going to look at this and see a funny movie with a whimsical premise. But its totally up to you guys to assume the worst of something before it even comes to fruition.
I don't mind the movie. I do however mind that furries will flock to this movie in theatres in their fur suits and will yiff together because it mentioned Anthropomorphic.
Furry thing has been going even before that, is not "stronger", just that internet now makes people out of it to find out it exist just like everything else. y'all acting like the old people watching the news and saying "so much war out there, is the end of times"
" is not "stronger", just that internet now makes people out of it to find out it exist just like everything else"
_ just that internet now makes people out of it to find out it exist
__ find out it exist
_
That is literally making it stronger. Do you have common sense?
definitely like 10 times stronger actually, when there's ******* online conventions for it nowadays that means ***** getting tossed around faster and growing
you know cause of the internet
You, like many people, seem to have a fundamental understanding about what a furry is. It's like pointing to the dude with a neckbeard that caries around 2 foot fluttershy plushy thing and saying he is exactly what all bronies are like.
That said, I hate the fursuit furries that do exactly what you just said. They unfortunately do exist. I don't mind what people are into, I mind when they are obscenely public about it.
Which is why i'm not buying it. I said earlier I don't mind the movie, but I do mind what it's advertising and catering to. There's nothing wrong about being a furry. Just people with similar interests. Problem is, most of them infest the internet like you saw in that quick mashup of screenshots I put together just from the movie trailer. It's a sub culture that is spreading and most of the participants i'd say are pretty unsuccessful or just pretty cringey. I'd relate this to the Japanese Hikkikomori. Someone who just spends and dedicates their life in their room playing games and watching anime. They hurt their social lives/development, typically don't go outside and find hobbies/meet people, and is essentially looked down upon by most people. The fact that this movie is targeting that audience and will undoubtedly introduce more people to the sub-culture is the thing I find pretty damn evil about it. Like I said earlier, there's nothing wrong with being a furry, but to say it's not a bad influence is an understatement. I myself am basically an otaku, but i'm willing to admit it's not a good influence and is certainly not something I should prioritize or spread in life.
well yeah every fandom have some cringy people in them.
im a fur (5 years now) but i never put it in other peoples faces (i would never start about it unless they start talking about it), i have tons of hobbies.(mainly keyboard/piano/guitar and art) a steady job and some good friends. i too have met a load of cringy people from my fandom.
i guess i just like the art since you wouldnt see me putting on one of those suits. unless its a extremely badass realistic dragon costume with glowing eyes and claws and **** , but still id only wear that for halloween. but then it wouldnt be a fursuit and more of a costume
I wonder what we would find if a study were done comparing the average income, level of education, and maybe a few other measures of 'success' between the furry community and the anime community.
With it being a bad influence or not, well that's a very complicated matter. I personally have made my best friends online. Not random strangers, but people I talk to every day on skype, play games with all the time and talk about everything from political intrigue to personal feelings. I make friends (outside of the internet) with everybody I meet. I've never had an "enemy" in my life. My friends an family praise my social skills (though I personally don't) I'm also in a stable, loving relationship and I do pretty much nothing but play videogames.
I understand where you're coming from but what a lot of people fail to understand is that, it's not the internet or lack of going outside that hurts us. The internet is the conglomeration of all human knowledge, a web that connects almost everybody from around the world instantly. The pinnacle of human engineering so far. What hurts us or not is how we choose to use it.
When we use it to separate ourselves from the world, from each other; when we use it to distance ourselves from the world and get lost in a world of fiction, that's when it hurts us.
So being an otaku isn't inherently bad nor is being a furry. It's how we choose to live our lives as an otaku or furry that makes us, or breaes us.
Problem there is, people don't know moderation. Which is why drugs and obesity are a thing. People like you and myself can glorify the connection the internet give us, but in the end we use it for entertainment. We've become reliant. Or at least, I have. We don't use it as a resource. But that's another discussion. Point being, malleable youth being introduced to these rather toxic things due to the easy access of the internet will affect them in the end. I'd say that's the whole reason radical feminism is alive and spreading. As a personal note, I used to hang around several furries and while they were good people, they were underachievers. One accepted his fate and refused to work hard and now lives off of the government on disability even though i'd say nothing is wrong with him apart from bad upbringing. Another is more "normal" but doesn't want to branch out too far to her full potential. And the others that popped in and out were really socially awkward. I remember one was like a beaten puppy and always apologized for anything and everything. Then there was the cringey exchanges of roleplaying like *bites *nuzzles and stuff like that. I tried hard to ignore it. As for a real life furry i've met, the same still applies but minus the good person. He was kind of a cunt. I remember he would talk to a classmate about similar interests and the classmate accidentally interrupted and he said "Could you shut up, I was talking." Then he'd say some pretty strong opinions about things that were fairly rude. Wasn't exactly a pleasant encounter.
Nah but seriously, every groups has the more...ahem...abnormal persons in them. As a Long time Furry/scaly (damn Space Jam Lola) I live a perfectly normal life, and keep most all of it online, and most certainly do not take part in bestiality (though there are so many posts about ******* dolphins >.>). I guess you just got the wrong end of the stick with those guys, or their personalities just clashed with yours. I hope some of us here can improve your view of our fandom/group
That really doesn't sound all the pleasant. Sorry you had to go though that and yeah, REALLY good point with the radical feminism. And yes, a large chunk of furries and otaku's are pretty socially awkward/cringy, and yeah, people suck with moderation.
But I found the furry fandom when I was 8 (yeeaaahhh I'm a furry) and I think I turned out pretty well. Really the point I was trying to make is that we are who we make ourselves become, not what something else decides for us.
This made me think about how funny it would be to ask someone not to masturbate during the movie right before entering the theatre in a big lineup. They don't even have to be a furry. Just ask some dad with his kids. lol
Thats what they said about the pony movie.
That neckbeards would flock to it with their XXL gym shorts and fedoras and ruin the place with their body odor.
Nothing I've seen before? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight, cause Disney's never animated a witty, slightly sassy fox before.
Also, got a bit of a Willie E. Coyote vibe from this. Especially the part at 1:00. Also, also, whoever came up with the pun at the end deserves a kick in the groin.
I won't judge directly but if there is even a small chance that the salon will contain even one bastard in a fur suit or several acne-ridden and/or fat ***** who suspiciously puts their coats over their laps then by god will I wait a month before watching it.
That's like saying waiting a month before going to a batman movie because you're afraid to get shot by a white man even though 1 white man ≠ every white man. It's a same for the furry community. 1 furry from the 100s of cringe posts on this site ≠ everyone else. That's like believing facebook news.
A point but let me present a counter-point. the crucial difference here is that this movie is to furries what honey is to flys. Yes lightning rarely strikes but I will still avoid lightning rods until I think the storm has passed
talking anthropomorphic animals have existed for damn near a hundred years in media with disney
being a big lover of them, this film has 1 difference.
it was made in a time where furries are everywhere and with a strong fandom so they are latching
on to it.
unless the film literally mentions furries even once it is not anything to do with them.
emplanes?
not sure if typo but that is a new word.
what do you mean by "emplanes"? because explaining something does not make it furry but
emplanes most likely means something else.
I'm really sorry, It's 4 am. Also unlike most other movies and shows, they make a fur joke. I'm not saying "OMG DIS IS BECAUSE OF FURRIES LOL OMG" But I am saying that it seems to me more self-aware than most things that have come out in the past.
well eventually there is going to be a film with anthro characters that has at least 1 tiny little
spec of furry reference but a pun using fur with walking talking animals is not huge and to respond
to the title, no furries are not mainstream...yet but people are becoming more and more aware
of them which means people in media are too and that will eventually lead to something big and
mainstream being all up in the furries.
it is hard to work out if something is furry directed because all things furry existed before
furries was a thing, so do you get what i mean? if something existed and then a fandom
pops up and that thing continues to say it was created BECAUSE of the fandom is...hard to work out.
also people are rabid and angry at homos, how the **** do you think they are going to take
furries? imagine brony ********** on a public and country sized scale.
you have any idea how ignorant that statement was?
not all furries wear fur suits and the like and the ones that do normally wear them for special
occasions like furry parties or conventions, to be a furry is to have an interest in the furry fandom
be it looking and taking part on furry websites all the way up to drawing and making stuff.
the "problem" is that people see this as a disgusting and vile group of people filled with ******
up ideas and concepts despite the fact that 95% of them look, act and are normal people
outside of the internet and on the internet they are a very accepting group of people with
extremely wide interests into damn near everything.
i have no issue with furries at all but people do and my original comment was simply explaining
why this film is not furry focused, it might be a tiny bit, nor are furries mainstream yet but
they are growing every year.

I think this movie will be more about accepting 'inequality' since it's showing how everyone is completely different and have their own advantages, and that it's just a fact of life that we should all adapt to. The movie clearly highlights the abilities that some do and don't have.
So yeah, this movie is probably designed to shoot down pretty much every tumblr blog demanding forced 'equality' where it isn't necessary.
What happened to you? I remember when you used to be chill and cool.
I put that as the title because it seems to be more self-aware (for example, when they explained anthropomorphism) Jesus dude. Why you gotta pull femanazies and fetishes into this?
Even as an avid DotA player and watcher that is an extremely obscure reference. Honestly I don't think you're being dense at all, he can't expect everybody to get that one.
>Bothering to explain the word "anthropomorphic" to an audience that is already familiar with cartoon animals.
>Main character that looks like every online furry user icon ever.
>Rabbit with human female birthing hips.
>Animated by adults with full access to the internet.
>"Be-fur"
How ******* obvious can they be? This is just confirming what we all sort of knew all along: Disney are furries.
Disney has profited off the Furry Fandom for years, and Zootopia is just their latest "Furbait" creation. This is further proven by the fact that several of the main animators for Zootopia on twitter regularly chat with furries about the movie and give tips and advice for up-and-coming animators in the fandom. So trust me when I say Disney knows EXACTLY what they're doing.
The main thing though is that Disney is a great company and the movie looks cute and hilarious and anybody in to furries would enjoy this movie even if they weren't.
And to answer OP's title question, Furries have been mainstream for quite a while. You can be damn sure that whenever a major game or movie has a race of anthro creatures that their intention is to appeal to the furry fandom. World of Warcraft and the playable Worgen race (a /joke even references furries with that race), Guild Wars 2 and playable Charr, even Elder Scrolls and Khajiit and Argonians (the original version showed them as nearly human aside from skin coloration/patterns and their tails, which over time evolved in to much more animal-like).
I'm quite pleased to see furries getting a much more neutral and even positive light in current media, but I understand why people are still so repulsed by it. I mean it was out community that created Pamperchu for christ's sake.
I dunno, man.
The fact that 90% of you jerk off to drawn foxes and **** isn't a good look.. I don't understand why you all fell the need to let everyone know what your fetish is.
That or you just legitimately think it's normal and you should be accepted with open arms for it, whatever.
>"The fact that 90% of you jerk off to drawn foxes and **** isn't a good look"
people can fap to whatever the **** they want to as long as it's not hurting anybody or are you going to go start saying that about absolutely anybody who at any point ever fapped to something that wasn't vanilla boy x girl penis-in-vagina sex? Because if not, then you're a hypocrite.
>". I don't understand why you all fell the need to let everyone know what your fetish is. "
We don't. Nobody besides the idiots who can't tell fantasy from reality does that. If you consider fursuiting or icons or god forbid posting within a relevant situation to be "letting everybody know" then you know jack all.
>"That or you just legitimately think it's normal and you should be accepted with open arms for it, whatever."
i don't think i should be welcome with open arms to anything because i do not give a **** what people think about me. What irritates me is when dumbass anons start throwing out ******** numbers and trying to play psychologist.
Like half the movies we watched, or at least most people watched, as kids were movies based around talking animals. Even Robin Hood had anthropomorphic animals. This is far from new, it's just 3d, and it's not even the first 3d animal movie.
