I'm in Quebec now after living in BC for essentially all my life and I had the exact opposite experience with it being below -40 with wind chill here and finding out it's +8 in BC.

Vancouver doesn't even really get cold, it's got one of the highest average temperatures in Canada.

What uni are you doing your year abroad at?
User avatar #5 to #4 - nyxeos [OP](01/03/2014) [-]
Lancaster
#6 to #5 - feragon (01/03/2014) [-]
Is it a decent place? I study in Nottingham, but I am from Portugal, and my friend who studies in Lancaster visited me the other day and just wouldn't stop saying how crap Lancaster was in comparison. Apparently its cold (maybe not to you) and wet as **** .
User avatar #7 to #6 - nyxeos [OP](01/03/2014) [-]
I don't mind it. My only real issue is how far the university is from the actual town. I certainly don't consider it to be all that cold, like I said in the post haha. It does rain a lot though, but that's pretty common in the UK
#8 to #7 - feragon (01/03/2014) [-]
I moved over to the UK expecting a **** load of rain, but luckily Nottingham isn't tooo bad...my uni is also a bit away from twon, but there are really regular buses so its all good. What course are you doing?

I study Econ, and I was considering doing a semester abroad at UBC but I thought that if it was just the semester, although Vancouver sounds awesome, it wasn't really worth it.
User avatar #9 to #8 - nyxeos [OP](01/03/2014) [-]
We have regular buses too, but I'm cheap lol. Don't like paying the fare.

And I'm in English Lit and Creative Writing. Only time I've been in Vancouver is in the airport for a transfer to head up north to Prince George, I've heard really good things about the uni there. I'm from Ontario though, so my home school is there.
#10 to #9 - feragon (01/03/2014) [-]
£1 fare for us, so its not too bad haha

Almost did English lit, but I thought Econ would bettr suit my career objectives, not necesarily financial, but I really want to be able to move around globally with work. Kind of regretting the choice now that I have some ****** up exams in a few weeks, but oh well, such is life.
User avatar #11 to #10 - nyxeos [OP](01/03/2014) [-]
Nice. Ours is 2.40 for return, I think it's 1.60 for one way. I'm just used to it being free, since at my home school we get a bus pass with tuition.

And I like English, although it gets frustrating doing the same thing all the time knowing what I'm tested on won't relate directly to anything I do really. I plan on going into editing and publishing though, so it's what I gotta be in haha. And good luck with your exams

Just be glad you're not in Glasgow, it has rain like Canada has snow: all year round, and every day.
#12 to #11 - feragon (01/03/2014) [-]
