robdabob (02/08/2015) [-] It's kinda fun and sad at the same time for the kid who played Joffrey, if people remember that he almost quit because the hate for his character was so strong that people took it out on him.
Luckily he stayed, i don't recall if some of the public apologized etc, but he kept going.
I have to say, he sure can roleplay a obnoxious bitch king very VERY well. So good the people forgot that he is a totally different person in real life.

This is false. He has never once said that he's had hate for his role. He's actually said that the fans have been awesome to him.
What he has done is quit acting to follow another passion (philosophy I think).

It's one thing to pull off a popular villain, people tend to like villains, take a look at Joker, or Captain Hook, or Darth Vader. It's another thing entirely to pull off a villain that even the audience hates. Only example I can think of besides Joffrey is Professor Umbridge from Harry Ptter

sphincterface (02/08/2015) [-] Yeah, he was a pretty good actor, but honestly if I played a character that is so hated by everyone so much that people actually started to hate me too, I am not sure if I would want to continue acting seeing as how people would also connect me with that one defining role.
