here on vest-landet most people I know eat this, so where **** in Norway you're from I have no ******* clue, because this is as close to typically Jule mat as you can get. and if you're one of those who eat grandis instead of proper Christmas food, then it's time you start get proper food.
We live at the west coast amd my family is from lyngen. We eat ribbe, Pinnekjøtt, Sennepsild, Sursild, Tomatsild, Lutefisk. And i know many people who eat the sheep head. Its mostly common in the fjords and on voss but yes. Alot of people eat the sheep head
i see now that i wrote that sentence pretty ******* horrible, i meant that i have never heard of norwegians eating this type of food at all, and i don't just mean my own family
akevitt is one of the most common alcoholic drinks in christmas, along with juleøl or christmas beer, which is basically normal beer, Mead is also quite popular. and a lot of the people where I live here, brew their own mead for christmas. there's probably more, but those are some of the most common ones around here.
yup gløgg is a thing and quite popular as far as I know, I don't really like it, but that's my opinion, but there probably more who like it than people who dislike it. I believe gløgg is common in all scandi/nordic countries, I at least know Norway and Sweden like gløgg.
potato, liver, carrot and rutabaga casserole, rosolli, tons of Ham and maybe turkey, plum custard, salmon, lutefisk and rice porridge with almonds while drinking some mulled wine
A couple of my old classmates went to study in Norway. I'm starting to understand why their parents send them care packages every month. If this is indicative of norwegian food, I assume they're living off of instant noodles.
