This is a dumbass example, If they're trying to say that not everybody is good at that particular subject, sure i understand, but those are completely different animals. With us, we are all human and the same. With the picture, they are all different, VERY different.

My moneys on the fish in the bowl. It got up on that post presumably by itself, why not a tree?

Are you really trying to argue that writing papers and basic mathematics is a bad way to test? If you look past the surface of these tests, they teach you basic computational skills. You learn to simplify complex problems and express your thoughts/research in a formal manner. But no, the test is too hard for you, so everyone else has to slow down and deal with your lack of progress.

Nah, it's the total opposite now. Everyone is forced to stay inside a fish bowl because the fish needs one. And they're all designed to fit the elephant so the elephant feels better about its size. And they don't learn about predators until they're released into the wild where they have to fend for themselves.

Well, what if they're testing to be a professional tree climber? Maybe those animals are taking the wrong test; it's not always the institution's fault that they have a specific idea of what they're looking for.

The fish already did it so he must be a genius

This is only true until after high school, which is mostly basic **** anyway. After that, you only get to the real ridiculous **** , like climbing a tree, after you've proven that you can. In college, you choose what to take, and you take the basic courses before the hard **** anyway. If you're interested in climbing trees, you learn about how to climb a tree, and if you're a fish, you realize this **** isn't for you and you take the swimming classes instead. This is how the education system is supposed to be fair, school is only as unfair as you make it for yourself.

All of this animal **** it making it impossible for me to even take myself seriously on this god damn...

those are all different species. we are all human. from this picture i cant tell if they got prior training or practice. we definitely get ample training and practice to do our tasks. the only thing i can see that's similar is that some people may have advantages or restraints but we have programs to deal with that.

I fail to see the problem with this.

Oh no, everyone at school is expected to be able to write competently and perform basic mathematic equations? MAKING A KID WITH A HISTORY OF POOR SCHOOL PERFORMANCE DO THAT IS TOTALLY THE SAME AS MAKING A FISH CLIMB A TREE!!!

This IS just like american schools.
Monkeys can into athletics, so they get free scholarships, while everyone has to do it the hard way.

If the society in which you live is based entirely around climbing trees, what alternative is there?
User avatar #35 - thogeon (10/14/2013) [-]
not just american, almost everywhere

That is a very, very poor example. Especially if you generalize it to all American schooling. It's more akin to standardized testing. To determine what the standard ability/comprehension of a topic is and where the students fall in it. I work at a school and we have a student who is below the average in math. But in reading comprehension and english skills he is within the 2 percentile.

well they're all different sure, but they all spent a year learning how to climb that tree
