I remember themy first time playing Morrowind, you were supposed to deliver a package to somebody to start off the main questline, I walked to Balmora and probably sold the package somewhere along the way so I could buy a cool sword..
I never did find it back.

The saving healing items one is spot on with me. I don't think I've ever actually used an Elixir in any Final Fantasy game, even when fighting that game's strongest boss.

thou shalt never use that "special attack" with the long cooldown or limited resources

because "you need that for a boss" then you get killed by regular enemies because you didn't use it

If I had a dime for every game I've ended with more potions than I've used I'd have enough money to buy more potions for just in case.

Play Fire Emblem.
Save every single elixer I got till the final level.
The cheapness finally paid off.
After many years and many games... it paid off

thou shalt talk to every villager....except for the one that never catches your eye somehow, and is the only one who advances the quest/story or gives a solid hint on what to do.

pic related. MFW i play an RPG, give in and bring up a walkthrough only to find out the NPC next to me would have told me exactly what to do

"Thou shalt never use a gun."

What do I look like to you? A liberal?

I actually remember the first time playing Skyrim, I managed to make it to Riverwood where I then had to deliver a message to the Jarl of Whiterun. Easy enough right? Apparently not for me, during my journey there I stole a horse, was later confronted about it, rode away and ended up halfway across the map in the north of Skyrim. I only checked because all I saw was snow. I was way passed Whiterun at this point. So...yeah. I'm an idiot.

I had a bit of a revelation with potions once. I figure, why save them if I'll never use them? They're worth nothing if they're never used. Sure, I might need it later, but I DO need it now.
