Alien: Wait so when your arm gets cut off, you can just tie it back on and it will rejoin after a while?

Human: ye

Alien: these things are ******* unstoppable

> ******* unstoppable

Kick in the nuts and we are disabled
User avatar #8 to #5 - schmuxy (01/06/2016) [-]
Wait, does that really work?
User avatar #9 to #8 - shumdek (01/06/2016) [-]
Yes, to an extent. Depends on how long it's been severed etc
User avatar #14 to #8 - derpthefifth (01/06/2016) [-]
If we'd hurry up and start using stem cells main stream it would absolutely work.
User avatar #31 to #14 - gragasvlad (01/06/2016) [-]
it does work if the cut is clean enough and you are quick with the reattatchment

We could be like bio robots or some **** . Good lord the future could be awesome.
User avatar #11 to #8 - elsenortamatoe (01/06/2016) [-]
It depends on the damage. You put it on ice, and the cells can stay alive longer. Wait too long, or it gets shredded, your ****** . A clean slice (like a knife) would be best case, worse case would be a press of some kind (you can loose all the tissue that is crushed, on both the stub and the severed extremity). But you seem to suffer from nerve damage, which is loss of feeling in the severed part.
User avatar #17 to #11 - SuperSixONE ONLINE (01/06/2016) [-]
Direct contact with ice destroys the tissue, you're supposed to wrap it in a cloth/water tight container and put it in a cooler/fridge/thing of cold water. If you wrap it enough, ice would probably work though.
#38 to #17 - hikakiller (01/06/2016) [-]
"put it on ice" doesn't mean "apply ice directly to the surface regardless of how much it would hurt if the limb were attached"
User avatar #44 to #38 - SuperSixONE ONLINE (01/06/2016) [-]
I was adding to what he was saying, not disputing it. A severed limb directly on some ice is a popular representation of it, and more people than you would think believe that that's what you should do.
#45 to #44 - hikakiller (01/06/2016) [-]
Sounds a bit counter-productive, destroying all your cells while preserving them. My mistake.
#46 to #45 - hikakiller (01/06/2016) [-]

I hate to be that guy that says "I know a guy", but I know a guy who's arm was severed in a car crash. It was a fairly clean cut and he was able to have it reattached. Apparently it was back in the early 80s too.

It seems to work fine, but you can certainly see the scar the scar that's wrapped around his arm. It also has a bit of an indent, which shows where the two were split.
User avatar #13 to #8 - adplum (01/06/2016) [-]
it also works with other body parts. My brother got his finger cut off as a kid, it was detached for a few hours, they just put it right back on
User avatar #16 to #13 - itskennyandjosh (01/06/2016) [-]
How'd your brother react when it was first cut off, was he like "oh **** it's never gonna be put back on" or more like "oh my god i wonder if i can still move it"
User avatar #19 to #16 - adplum (01/06/2016) [-]
he was too young to really make sense of it. I think he was around 3 years old or something
#33 to #8 - xxskoolxx (01/06/2016) [-]
Go try it and post results ;)
#24 to #5 - anon (01/06/2016) [-]
the thing is when you get a limb cut off, as long as it's a clean slice you can just reattach the muscles and major veins and everything else will eventually reconnect and heal the main problems you'll run into is a cut that's too damaged to sew together or leaving the limb alone too long because the tissues die from oxygen deprivation, so long as you can get it reattached before the tissues die and it's not too damaged then yeah, you'll have reduced control over it but yeah. that's why they always tell you if you cut off a finger or appendage to throw it on ice and head to the ER.

What's the purpose of those first-ass teeth that kids have?
User avatar #12 to #2 - klina (01/06/2016) [-]
>>#3, and also it's because teeth without dental care get rotten easily, so getting new ones and dumping the old makes for a longer lifespan with a working jaw (don't know the english name for it)
User avatar #4 to #2 - blueboysixnine ONLINE (01/06/2016) [-]

Ass-teeth maybe? Biting some kid's ass?
#21 - ciacheczko (01/06/2016) [-]
Your teeth don't "grow back". You are born with your real teeth existing from the beginning, they are literally in your goddamn bones. The first set is just a temporary substitute, it starts falling out when the actual teeth develop and start to emerge from gums.

No wonder the alien didn't believe it, it was indeed ******** .

I remember I was a greedy little cunt when I was a child and my mother had promised me 5 dollars when one of my molars fell as a kid. So I remember passing one whole day pulling on it until it was finally flimsy and I could just rip it off.

human bones have been getting more brittle since the stone age
the average size of the human brain relative to body size is also shrinking
disease and weakness is on the rise with loss of natural selection

humans are weak
#56 to #36 - anon (01/07/2016) [-]
not surprising considering all the **** that gets put in our bodies ( **** off all you medical science and what not has improved our lives that **** is not what i'm talking about)
but the increase in chemicals in food, air, water, and radio waves/ electromagnetic radiation, monotonous daily life (all those little things that everyone else experiences is not exciting so get over it) the fact that people leave it to technology and other people to do any thinking for them, the lack of physical activity by comparison

it goes on
User avatar #57 to #56 - infinitereaper (01/07/2016) [-]
The worse part is that people buy into all the lies, acting like "everything is fine"
when in reality, this is a sinking ship and people are willingly sinking it
