We torture and kill two billion sentient living beings every
week. 10, 000 entire species are wiped out every year because
of the actions of one, and we are now facing the sixth mass
extinction in cosmological history. If any other organism did
this, a biologist would consider them a virus."

As a freshly graduated biologist, I can say that this ****** has no idea what a virus is. That distracts me from the rest of the content.

Yeah, most famous quotes are from people who do not have knowledge of the subject, but just the ability to sound pretty good.

I remember when I was 15 and edgy. I thought just like that. Now that I've actually SEEN the world, and all the people here, I ******* love it. I love this planet and all the cool people here. Humans are awesome, and I'm happy to be around during some of our greatest moments in history. For every bad thing the human race can do, and does, we are also capable of so much more love and caring. Humans naturally want to help eachother. It's part of our evolution to want to help. Humans are ******* awesome. All you have to do is go out and see for yourself.

Probably my favorite line from agent smith but now that I think about it

wasn't agent smith a virus?
User avatar #39 to #19 - kasperscar (05/12/2014) [-]
Neo was the virus, look up the backstory.
The robots became sentient and wanted to live along humans in humanoid form yet the humans did not want to therefore they blocked out the sun because the robots were solar powered resulting in the humans living on a ****** planet. The robots create the matrix and harness power from humans giving each what they need. Humans a peaceful, full life and the robots got their power. It was until one day that a robot felt sympathy for a human and let them out of the matrix resulting in the resistance thingo. Neo was the one because of the manipulation abilities he had. Agent smith was originally the anti-virus program which morphed into a virus. Neo was originally a virus because he was content on destroying the matrix. Just look it up i can't be bothered really explaining it.
This isn't the most detailed or longest version of this but yeah look it up.
User avatar #46 to #39 - deltoraquest (05/12/2014) [-]
so agent smith is technically norton anti-virus?
User avatar #28 to #19 - konradkurze (05/12/2014) [-]
no he was a sentient computer program....he called humanity a virus for moving here and there and consuming every resource til it has to move again

We don't even hold the damn record for most species killed. Cyanobacteria do. Cats come in second with 33 and we come in third with a lousy 13. See, we've driven quite a few species NEARLY to extinction, but killed very few alltogether. Plus, we try to preserve some that are probably gonna die on their own if we don't. I mean, have you ******* SEEN coral reefs and pandas? It's like nature wants those things dead, but we refuse to let go of them.
User avatar #63 to #62 - Gandalfthewhite (05/12/2014) [-]
i've noticed that we desperately try to preserve the panda yet it's one of the few rare animals that nature actually is trying to kill off but we're being stubborn out of guilt
User avatar #64 to #63 - thechosentroll (05/12/2014) [-]
I still say it's not our fault. Those ******* refuse to breed even when you show them panda porn. Plus, they give birth to more than one baby panda, but can only support one, so it just ******* dies, while the other dies for no apparent reason in a month or two if not put in constant care. Also, the mothers nearly crush their cubs by accident all the time. These creatures are desperately trying to die.

But evolution before us wiped out more species than we can ever try to imagine
I dislike people when they say how humans are destroying the nature and whatnot
it's not like the nature is a sentient being, then we could say that cats are destroying the nature cause they caused 33 bird species to go extinct, we are part of the nature itself and even if we kill every single living being including us the nature will move on
its not like we're killing nature itself, no it will always adapt and change we're just screwing ourselves over

Yes, but the difference is that we are fully aware of the affect that we are having on the environment and the fact that nature will 'adapt' shouldn't really justify it as who are we to force nature to adapt?

this is why I get pissed at Rise Against. People who bitch about how bad humanity is, but provide ZERO input on how to fix the problem, deserve to die a slow painful death

ALSO. ******* ALSO: Animals go extinct all the time. that's part of nature. We're the most powerful and influential species by far. The reason so many animals die out is because we're instinctually driven to eat other animals. It isn't wrong, it's NECESSARY.

western countries having countless acres of rainforest cut down so mainstream people can have cattle farms to stuff their faces with ********** burgers, japs dredging every living thing out of the sea to fuel their sushi addiction, tons of natural lands paved over and species killed so people can have more minimalls and ******* carparks...humanity is more a virus, destroying everything natural around it to feed its own reproduction and expansion

"Rain forrest cut down" Then make a new rainforest you lazy asshat. China is planing a garden ON THE ******* MOON!

"Fish species goes extinct" Then get your **** together and map the ocean out already, so we can regulate it's ecology ourself. If you did not go over it in biology class, mother nature is a useless sac of **** , and should never be depended upon.

"Destroying everything around it to feed it's own reproduction and expansion"

Let me get this straight.
You are offered some ideas to fix the problem you present, and all i see is:
Excuses and an attempt to turn the argument astray.

But just a quick google search.
You need to login to view this link

Theres like a million different sources on other animals killing just for the sake of killing.
You seriously need to get a grip, stop acting like a whiny twat, and grow a pair.
User avatar #70 to #52 - konradkurze (05/12/2014) [-]
so some animals are bloodthirsty killers out of instinct, so its perfectly okay for humans to CHOOSE to be that way too....nevermind humans kill more than all the other killers put together right

so tell me what the **** does humanity do when every wild animal is finally dead and all we have are the generic pet animals and food animals and nothing left in the wild
#71 to #70 - shadowgandalf (05/12/2014) [-]
Move on to otther planets.
You are really glorifying the wild you know? It's is a sac of **** , to itself and it's inhabitants. Thats why humanity chose to leave it.

What do you want wild animals for? Like seriously?
If it's for the circle of life, then it can be artificially rebuild/replaced.
Is it because you think they deserve a right to exist? If so, why are you not mad at nature itself, for killing off more species than mankind ever have?

You are not doing anything constructive, you are merely whining like a bitch.
If you want something to change, then YOU have to make that change. You have an entire lifetime to do it in, what more could you possibly need?
User avatar #72 to #71 - konradkurze (05/12/2014) [-]
so move onto other planets and **** them up too huh
never consider changing the way we do things?

humanity chose to leave the wild because assholes eventually convinced people the people at large being fat and lazy and relying on conveniences is 'better'...aka become parasites sucking up every resource till theres nothing left, because thats easier than managing resources

if humanity leaves the lanet i say send the idealists to begin a new way of life and leave the exploitative vermin like yourself behind to rot on this planet
#73 to #72 - shadowgandalf (05/12/2014) [-]
You have absolutely no idea of how nature works. You are literally as ignorant as a north korean worshipping their leader.

You didn't manage resources for **** in the wild. We lived like the african tribes, in a state of constant hunger, famine and war. There was NOTHING good about how we lived before the civilization.

You are cancer to the world, not only humanity, but also other life forms. You act if you are some holy being deciding what 7 billion other people should do with their life!
7 billion! What kinda ******* arrogance does it take to think, that you are morally superior to ANY of them?
User avatar #74 to #73 - konradkurze (05/12/2014) [-]
dude...when we lived tribal we kept balance, we didnt eat for the sake of ******* eating, we didnt rape the land to build meaningless **** for the sake of decoration, we didnt collect **** to fill out lives with possessions.....
even up to medieval times, people still had more sense of value for things...people valued food because they grew it themselves, we didnt pave over everything and people valued family and the outdoors more than collecting ****

its ********** like you who whack off to the world of selfish greed, conveniece and consumerism that are the ebola virus of the world, all you exist to do is kill everything off for the sake of that you can

and youre too full of **** to see anything wrong with that, and like a neckbeard, preach 'my opinion is better because i say so'

#3 - anon (05/11/2014) [-]
I have to disagree, we as humanity are driven by greed, nature in its own capacity teaches through instinct not to take more than it can handle. Humans are driven by money, we destroy environments of animals just to develop another strip mall or produce another factory. Animals eat what they kill we have people who hunt for sport just for the thrill of the kill. I am by no means a animal activist or vegetarian or **** like that, I just know humans in general are greedy and contribute so much to the destruction of the planet. There is no way to fix humanity because there is no way to abolish all evil, it must remained balanced until we spiral towards our inevitable destruction.
User avatar #15 to #3 - cdsams (05/12/2014) [-]
I said this once and I am saying it again. We can either cower from greed and hope that some day all people will decide to do "good" or, we can appreciate the fact that greed is predictable and can thus be harnessed like a form of energy. It is then we can actually start getting **** done.
#41 to #3 - anon (05/12/2014) [-]
Nature does in NO WAY tech only to take what you can handle.
Our greed itself is a natural instinct, which is caused by the lack of food in the wild.
You don't know when you get your next meal, so when you finally find something, you eat as much as you can.

That is not only humans, almost all animals operate this way.
Most noticeable are snakes, felines and orcas..

User avatar #13 to #5 - pwz (05/11/2014) [-]
First, humans are not the only sentient beings. "Sentience is the ability to feel, perceive, or to experience subjectivity. Eighteenth-century philosophers used the concept to distinguish the ability to think (reason) from the ability to feel (sentience). In modern Western philosophy, sentience is the ability to experience sensations (known in philosophy of mind as "qualia"). The concept is central to the philosophy of animal rights, because sentience is necessary for the ability to suffer, which is held to entail certain rights." (
Secondly: If you are going to calculate the rate of extinction, you have to include everyone being born. Although it would be very difficult to maintain a population with that amount of deaths, but since sentient is not a term only applicable to humans, this problem does not arise.
User avatar #21 to #5 - lyiat ONLINE (05/12/2014) [-]
You're thinking of sapience. Sentience and sapience are not the same thing. Humans are the only known sapient life on Earth, though that's debatable as we explore the intellect of more animals.

I didn't know that Humans went around injecting our genetic code into other life forms and then that life form became a human and then injected its genetic code into more species replicating itself over and over again. I mean I know in Pakistan they try to inject DNA into Capra aegagrus hircus but that doesn't allow for self replication, just some weird f***ed up self satisfaction.
Secondly, Philip Wollen sounds like he wants to replicate with a tree. Friggin Hippie.
