The problem is that "collaborating" with republicans is almost impossible. They just won't stop bitching until everything goes exactly their way. I mean, after so many revisions of Obamacare and years after the passage, they are still willing to **** over the entire country just to try to defund it.

It's never that fault of a single party. Get over that.

you are largely right

but i would like to point out a few things
First, the Budget is where Congress decides how much money goes to things that they are legally required to fund, and is therefore not a place to decide whether or not to remove a program.
Second, the Debt Ceiling is an arbitrary number for how much the government can borrow. It was created so that congress could approve one big limit on how much the government could borrow instead of passing a borrow limit in association with every other bill, effectively doubling their workload. It is largely obsolete.

Neither of these should ever be used when negotiating about individual Laws and bills, because both parties are legally and morally obligated to pass a budget and raise the debt ceiling.

To answer the original comment, Democrats and Republicans can largely work together to get a decent job done. In this case, with the shutdown, the fault is almost entirely in the hands of the Tea Party, for forcing the Republican Party to basically stop offering up anything in exchange for their demands. The Tea party basically makes pure demands with no attempt at actual politics. The Republican party is following the Tea Party because without the support of tea party republicans, they would lose their majority in the House, and the ability to filibuster in the Senate, effectively handing the entire government over to the Democrats.

Now, don't think I am supporting the Democrats in this, the democrats have used them as chips before and are therefore equally guilty if not equally at fault at this moment. Obama-care has many serious flaws that will need to be addressed over the coming years Unfortunately i don't have time to go over some , but it is a law and since medical bankruptcy is so damn high at the moment, we as a nation do need to do SOMETHING about the situation.

well lets first get you some knowledge. the republican controlled house did in fact pass a budget while the democrat controlled senate refused to touch the thing.

now let me educate you on obamacare. first off it is not universal healthcare like you may think. it does 2 things: 1. forces companies with full time employees to pay for healthcare regardless of how much the company makes, 2. forces every citizen to buy expensive low premium insurence from a select few companies approved by the government.

it is not a good thing. small business are hurt because owners will not be able to pay to cover all of their employees. the job market is hurt because pople are being let go to avoid the employee number requirement. the people are hurt because companies that dont outright fire you will reduce your hours under full time to avoid having to pay you. the government is hurt because after the lies that it wouldnt cost the american people a dime we find that it will cost us a couple trillion

on top of all that the program that would put it into affect and control it isnt even finished. it does far more harm then good and isnt even ready to be launched. but the democrating party refused to budge on delaying it a year. after they forced it in with nancy polosis words "we have to pass it to see whats in it"

"2. forces every citizen to buy expensive low premium insurence from a select few companies approved by the government." This just isn't true.

Obamacare has been upheld as constitutional by the Supreme Court. It's already done. Delaying it really does nothing is my opinion. Actually, my opinion is that the two parties can't work together because the only compromise the Republicans seem to want is delaying Obamacare. And seeing that Obamacare is Obama's center-piece of legislation, he's not going to budge.

If I didn't have decent insurance, for once, I'd sign up. Just my two cents.

actually it is true. if you do not have insurence you must buy it. there is aso a limited number of companies that are allowed to sell it. those companies are also prevented from selling high premium low cost insurence since that insurence isnt what the target of this bill is about. older people who dont qualfy for medicare. the goal was to reduce the costs for those people since younger people rarely buy insurence at all
