A short(?) Story
It was a normal day, until I had gotten a strange note. It seemed, although it most definitely had my name on it, it was for someone else. I didn't know the name of the person it was from, and the note seemed to be written as if the person did know me. They asked to meet me out on some trail after work. I went there of course, the idiot I am.
This shall be a short story, and possibly short installments to a larger one if it has a good reception. This picture is our protagonist (its also OC)
What waited for me was the prettiest woman I had ever seen. She had dark hair and green eyes. Her frame was athletic, and skin kissed slightly by the sun, just enough for a slight tan. She wore clothing as though she were going out for a jog. I walked over and she looked at me. Could she have written the note? I thought. My question wouldn't be answered. Her form shifted, becoming tall and thin. Her hair fell out and her mouth twisted and split open, revealing a row of sharp teeth.
I stepped back, terrified and shaking.
"What the **** !?" I exclaimed.
It pounced and took me to the ground, bringing it's head toward my neck. I had managed to react quick enough to put my feet to its chest, pushing it back. It bore against me, it's jaws snapping. With panic I threw a punch straight at the side of its head.
The hit had enough power to knock it from me but it was getting ready to lunge once more. I broke a branch off a nearby tree as it did and held it straight at it.
It had impaled itself with its own force. It flailed before slowing it's movement and then eventually stopping.
I dropped both it and the brach, looking at it in fear.
Is it dead? I asked myself in my head.
I wasn't going to take any chances. I grabbed a lighter out of my pocket and lit it, setting a stick on fire before stabbing it into it's head. It screeched and then burst into green flames. After that, the world went black.
I woke up laying on the ground in the woods. There was no body near me, nor was the trail I had been on there either. I stood up and brushed my self off. My clothes weren't covered in dirt surprisingly.
I reached for my phone. It wasn't there. "What!? I definitely had it on me!" I yelled. I searched frantically but to no avail. It wasnt here.
I began to walk, looking around to see if I could find something to identify where I was. After about half an hour I began to yell, just wanting someone to find me, but I stopped. A horrible thought popped into my head.
What if more of them are out there?
I walked quietly once more. Not before long I came acrossed a clearing, inside of which seemed to be a village with looks to being from the middle ages.
I stepped into it and saw people. They wore strange clothing, trousers and tunics, or old dresses. I knew I looked out of place with my neon green tie, black dress shirt, jeans, and converse. It became evident when the people stopped and looked at me.
I walked along despite their gazes. I walked to a central building. It was large, and definitely looked important. I walked in and looked at the man inside.
"Hello? Who might you be?"
"I'll answer quickly, its the least I can do since I'm about to drop a thousand questions on you. My name is Nicholas, and I have no idea where am I. First question, where am I?"
"You're in Cryatin, the smallest town in the Grazein Empire."
"Okay, this question won't be so simple. Before I came here I was attacked. It was a creature that masqueraded as a person, and then became a tall, thin creature with a split face. I need to know what it is and how to kill it,"
"You some kind of hunter?"
"Irrelevant, answer the question,"
"The creature is called a Husk, there isn't any special way to kill it, but you must burn the remains, or it will simply rise again."
"Okay, good, I did exactly that. Now on to my next question. Am I on Earth?"
"What's 'Earth'? A continent? No, you're on Veridial,"
"That answers my question well enough. Do you have a library? And if so, are there any books on any other creatures such as the husks?"
"Yes, but there are no books on that topic. Though, there is a man here. A Hunter named Jeryk. He may have better answers for you,"
"Thank you, sir." I said respectfully. He handed me a piece of paper and then I walked out. I looked at the page, and found written on it directions.
I began to follow them, and asked locals as I had trouble. Finally, I found myself standing outside an extremely old looking cabin. I reached for the doorknob, but as I did, it turned and the door flew open.
