I can't stand how so many people say dream big but the moment after you tell them what you want to do with your life they smile and say it's not realistic. I feel like I can't do what I want because nothing that you dream of doing is "realistic". Sorry, just me venting

For a second, after seeing the Canadian flag on the jet, I thought it was going to relate to this guy.

I used to really hate motivational stuff like this until I actually found something I want to do and started going for it. Some of this stuff actually helps.

But that's just me I guess.

But if you don't figure that out until you're an adult, and you won't have the extra twenty years to build skills that will help you succeed, do you still follow that dream, or just try to make it a pastime? Serious question.

one of the things I do is think about how I would feel as an old man/on my deathbed. Would I regret not pursuing my dream or would I be proud that I did what I could with what I had? For instance, I play guitar. I love playing guitar. I thought about trying to make a career out of it, but that is difficult and requires a ton of luck. I believe that I could do it if I want to, but I am fine with keeping my guitar playing as a hobby and pursue a more reliable career.

Personally, I really don't like these comics. They're so boring and cheap.
The creator of these comics just finds someone's quote and draws a story around it, which is kinda uncreative after a few comics.
I love comics, I love the fact that they bring words and people to life. But in this case, i'd rather just read the original quote in black and white rather than give credit to some artist who can't write a stable story of his own.

No offense to anyone who like these comics.
Like I said, this is just me on a personal level and only am saying this in hopes of meeting people who can tell me I'm wrong and provide evidence as to why I'm wrong and meet those who are bored of Zenpencils.

Don't worry, I like these comics yet I respect your opinion and I can understand how you arrived to this conclusion. So, I understand you mainly don't tend to like these comics However I'll try my best to not tell you "you're wrong" - It's your opinion, and you've explained it clearly so telling you you're wrong would be a bit extreme, I'll just "respond".

Okay, your main point is that you don't like these comics much because, they're "boring" and "cheap" and what you meant by this is that whilst you "love comics" and love how they "bring words and people to life", the creator of these comics takes quotes and draws stories around them which don't find very creative.

That's understandable. Yet, let's take this into a similar context you say you love comics because you love the fact they brings words and people to life. Books, do this as well. They are similar to comics, yet comics tend to be more focused on visuals. But they still both can do the same thing which is bringing people and in particular words to life.

Now like every comic has a cartoonist/artist a book has to have a writer/novelist. Right now you said you'd rather "read the original quote in black and white rather than give credit to some artist who can't write a stable story of his own". Which is fine.

However, how do we know the artist can't write a stable story? I mean maybe they can make their own comics but prefer to draw comics like these because it emits inspiration. It's just like a writer who can write mystery and fantasy novels tend to write mystery novels and someone claims that the author is "boring" or their stories are "not creative" because they keep writing mystery novels yet they can write novels of a different genre more interesting to certain people who find their work "cheap" but they choose not to because they prefer writing mystery.

You're allowed to have your opinion, and like I said, I respect that. But you also had hopes of meeting people who can tell you you're wrong.

I forgot to mention that I actually kinda liked these at first. But they get dull and repetitive.
Maybe the artist is creative, but I don't really believe it seeing how all he ever makes are these.
#42 to #39 - themilkisdead (11/24/2013) [-]
This is exactly the point, I'm trying to object to. You say you doubt the artist is creative yet there is no proof. Maybe the artist is creative like the example of the writer I gave in my previous comment, maybe they just like doing these types of comics but they do have the potential to do other comics which you could see as creative but they just prefer doing comics on quotes.

Also what do you find that isn't creative about these, is it because it's the same formula? I've seen other work from the artist which seems creative and it does seem to me that you'd need a creative mindset to turn quotes or words into actual images that most, if not all people could see and agree with when put besides those certain words or that certain quote.

Take the image on the left for example (you may need to enlarge it to get a better view), it does seem to have a much more bigger contrast with this piece of work. Plus it does do a great job at further getting the point across of the quote to viewers.

If you're also wondering whether this is the same artist or if there are multiple people working at 'Zen Pencils' - It is the same artist, as you can tell by the signature in the bottom left corner.

Like I said, I still respect your opinion however I just wanted to see if I could change your mind a bit if you just came to see things from a different perspective and how that may counter with yours.
