i like to hold the door open for people who are far away, cause at some point they will start running.
and its the most innocent joke i can think off
#66 to #5 - anon (11/28/2015) [-]
When someone does that for me, I actually don't speed up a single bit. I mean, it's their choice to stand there holding the door while I'm 15 meters away, they are clearly willing to wait, no?
User avatar #67 to #66 - wcpapier ONLINE (11/28/2015) [-]
yes i am willing to wait, doesnt annoy me a single bit
User avatar #24 to #5 - greyhoundfd (11/28/2015) [-]
And then you close it right before they get there.

i do that some times when i have no where to be, they get all weird about it on occasion
#69 to #5 - anon (11/28/2015) [-]
honestly i do that too but the best thing i ever saw was a person far away start doing the baywatch slow mo run and whip their hair (they were a 40-50 year old male with a bald head) i held it for a solid 30 seconds before he arrived just because he deserved it for that bold move.

User avatar #14 to #11 - wcpapier ONLINE (11/28/2015) [-]

User avatar #15 to #14 - needsauceadmisblan (11/28/2015) [-]

You're a dick for making other people not want to be a dick so they hurry and thank you for being a dick.

You cunt.
User avatar #4 - frenzyhero (11/27/2015) [-]
I hold the door for people I know, elders, and women.

I don't hold the door for other men.

This ******* post again.
#53 to #4 - anon (11/28/2015) [-]
how's the "frindzone" treating you, let me guess, you "nice guy's" can't find a girl because of all us "assholes".
User avatar #63 to #53 - frenzyhero (11/28/2015) [-]
wah wah im too weak to just catch the door passing through
stop your whining anon. Why does everyone bitch whenever someone doesn't want to inconvenience themselves for the sake of another person? I don't mind the red thumbs but it's people like you that give these brats their unwarranted self-entitlement.
User avatar #8 to #4 - reican (11/27/2015) [-]
why not? that way you can be sure they can't strike you from behind, unless... you like getting it behind.
User avatar #17 to #4 - abesimpson (11/28/2015) [-]
Are you the guy who said he doesn't open the door for others because you believe it like submitting to strangers? That was a while ago.
User avatar #43 to #17 - frenzyhero (11/28/2015) [-]
Yeah that's me, but I'm not going to reverse my opinion just because someone doesn't like it.
Hence "this ******* post again".
User avatar #34 to #17 - frenzyhero (11/28/2015) [-]
I hold no respect nor malice for random people. I won't slam the door on their face, obviously, but holding the door for another man implies you aren't his equal.
#46 to #34 - ZenMacros (11/28/2015) [-]
I bet you're the type of guy who doesn't go down on women because you think it's "submissive" too.
User avatar #47 to #46 - frenzyhero (11/28/2015) [-]
That's not submission. That's being an equal partner. And it's a great way last longer.

User avatar #10 to #4 - threeeighteen (11/27/2015) [-]
Or you could just be polite and hold the door open for anyone that's immediately behind you. You know, not being ignorant of others in public.
User avatar #12 - batmanbeyonddgrave (11/28/2015) [-]
I hold the door for everyone, but it always goes on of three ways.
*holds door for girl*
"Thanks"
"you're welcome, not a problem"

*holds door for guy*
"Thanks"
*drop 8 octaves and grunts*

*hold door open for dick head*
*says nothing*
*plots murder*

Pretty ******* stupid fam. You should do the right thing because it's right, not because you want praise.
User avatar #29 to #28 - batmanbeyonddgrave (11/28/2015) [-]
I'm doing the right thing by opening the door for them, they should do the right thing by thanking me.

**shaddyz used "*roll picture*"**
**shaddyz rolled image**never expect a thanks buddy, you wont always get it
#39 to #29 - anon (11/28/2015) [-]
Did they ask you to hold the door? Nope. So basically you're using social norms to blackmail them into praising you for doing something they didn't ask for or need and that YOU chose to go out of your way to do.
User avatar #44 to #39 - ZenMacros (11/28/2015) [-]
You're making this seem like something much bigger than it really is. He's not asking for a reward or something that'll boost his ego. He's jut someone that appreciates common courtesy when the situation calls for it. I mean, is saying "thank you" really all that much to ask for? Obviously you don't have to say thank you, but why does expecting it somehow make you some sort of egotist who only holds doors open for people to get praise? What a stupid assertion to make.
User avatar #40 to #39 - batmanbeyonddgrave (11/28/2015) [-]
I guess so? All I'm saying, if someone does something nice for you, you thank them. It's just common courtesy
#37 to #29 - anon (11/28/2015) [-]
What a cunt.

Few days ago I opened a door and saw a lady and a man (which were not in a relatinship) behind me and hold it open for them. They didnt say anything but through nothing of it. As I wanted to go through the door I saw a old lady, in her 80s at least and she was maybe 5 meters in front of me. I held it open for her and she was very happy I've done so and said a big, happy ''thank you'' and responded with ''not a problem and have a beautiful day'' and that gave her the biggest smile.

Small gestures like this can mean a lot to some people, specially elderly.
User avatar #1 - jamesten (11/27/2015) [-]
there's a difference between a nice, etiquette pushed lady, and a strong independent woman
you open the door for a lady, but do whatever with a woman

"They only mentioned dick faced people. Not us"
User avatar #32 to #26 - grumpythefirst (11/28/2015) [-]
Do you know what the word "not" means? It says "Not a giant dickface" that is literally mentioning everyone EXCEPT dickface people.

I hate when I'm leaving a restaurant and do this and 5 seconds later I'm the unofficial door greeter due to the hordes coming in and out.
User avatar #31 - darkthekiller (11/28/2015) [-]
My mom got in the habit of stopping at doors to wait for me to open them. She will tell at me othetwise. It's especially bad in a public place when I'm a few feet behind her.

I'll hold the door open for whoever is behind me but I'll also let my friends/whoever else is in front of me hold open the door open for me regardless of their one of two ACTUAL gender
#25 - notafunnyguy (11/28/2015) [-]
Isn't this common sense? I'm in Canada, and if you're within 5-8 feet of the door the person going in will ALWAYS hold it for you. It's not even a conscious action its just a reflex to grab the door to make sure it doesn't close on the person behind you. The only time I remember someone closing the door on me, he was a paramedic running in with a stretcher and even then he still made an effort to hold the door but his hand missed

I hold the door open for children walking in too close behind me.
I may hold it for someone else on occasion, but usually I don't even think about it.
I'm not worried about the door smacking the adult in the face cuz they didn't notice I let go of it. Kids though, kids are dumb and it might smack them and then I'd feel bad.
User avatar #71 to #58 - furkyoshizz (11/28/2015) [-]
I don't know. A kid walking into a door and smacking it sounds pretty entertaining.

I hate this gender-neutral trend.. Everything has to be gender-neutral these days. Gender roles have gone completely out the window.
#55 - anon (11/28/2015) [-]
I feel like an asshole sometimes when it's so automatic that people sometimes say thank you a little too gratefully and I just walk off without looking at them or saying you're welcome lol.
