For those of us who opted out of maths, Can someone explain the equation for me?

Im not exactly sure what you meant by "the equation" nor can i tell exactly whats happening on the board but this is what it looks like to me:
the original equation has 2 unknowns x and y, then from another simultaneous equation with same 2 unknowns and rearranging it into y=33x+9 then substituting all y unknowns of the original equation with this we can have a new equation with only one unknown x. This way we can simply get a value of x, then sub this into y=33x+9 to give y, giving us the awnsers.... i think
