So you're saying you were not in Uganda during the Great Measle Outbreak of '01?
#14 to #3 - amuzen (12/25/2015) [-]
you were required to go on vacations so you wouldn't be around when measles broke out.

Are there really outbreaks of diseases in schools? I haven't heard or seen any news on it.
User avatar #31 to #4 - quantumranger (12/25/2015) [-]
There have been outbreaks of pertussis and measles in a few places where there is a larger percent of people not vaccinating I think I saw that one of the places had something like 20% of school age children at the time were unvaccinated . Nothing that would be considered an epidemic, but still many more than should be happening in a country with access to vaccines.
User avatar #5 to #4 - saltyfries (12/25/2015) [-]
there was a measles outbreak in Illinois due to a family not vaccinating their kid.

I actually missed about a week of middle school because I didn't have all the vaccinations I needed, and once I got them, I got really sick
User avatar #13 to #7 - thegreenbutton (12/25/2015) [-]
Vaccinations can do that. Just builds up your immune system for next time.
#12 to #7 - anon (12/25/2015) [-]
Then you are weak, and lucky you did not die.

I don't know much but I think its something like this: get injected with bad juju in its weakened form, body learns how to fight bad juju so it can do so effectively when the real juju shows up.

I should mention that I live in the Southern U.S. and opportunities to learn about science are somewhat limited. The version I learned is that God blessed the vaccine and now we're warded from sickness...something like that.
User avatar #39 to #38 - warioteam (12/25/2015) [-]
why not

I have an extreme fear of needles, but wow some of you guys are pussies... Just don't look at the thing, geez. When I was ******* 7 I learned that.
User avatar #40 to #22 - Sethorein (12/25/2015) [-]
I do deep breathing. The pain isn't so bad as the anticipation of pain.
User avatar #41 to #40 - vexaton ONLINE (12/25/2015) [-]
Yeah I just fear the needle itself, not the pain.
User avatar #24 to #22 - exceeding (12/25/2015) [-]
i wanted to mess with you by replying with a "needle in the eye" pic but i scared myself looking for pictures

Oddly enough, it doesn't really hurt.

Yeah, and I have mirror touch synesthesia, so you would actually hurt me by doing that.
#26 to #25 - exceeding (12/25/2015) [-]
i don't know what that means, does this frighten you?
User avatar #27 to #26 - vexaton ONLINE (12/25/2015) [-]
Lol, it's not a phobia, but that's funny. MTS is a mishap in your neural pathways that connects some of your senses to touch. Kinda like how some people can see music and smell words, I feel the pain I see in others (#deep). So if I watch someone get cut across the throat for an example, my throat feels like it's kinda in growing pain, my esophagus contracts, and I almost vomit. Not because it's gross or anything. I once tried watching a Saw movie back when I thought it was just something everyone experienced and I was just being a pussy about it, and 5 minutes in my entire body was in so much pain I had to lie down for like 20 minutes. My gf at the time freaked the **** out and kept saying she was sorry for making me watch it. I was 17 at the time btw, so it's not like I didn't know what I was watching.
User avatar #28 to #27 - exceeding (12/25/2015) [-]
I'm sorry i didn't knew, i'm happy i didn't upload any of the pictures i saw.
User avatar #30 to #28 - vexaton ONLINE (12/25/2015) [-]
No worries at all man. Not like I can avoid everything. If it's something that only affects one part of the body, it's fine, unless it's the nuts lol. I'm pretty used to it.

And learning about radiaton in second grade was mandetory.Just in case someone would **** up and poke our good drunken neighbour.. Russia.

I remember this guy in my class in 7th grade. He was the typical 'tough' kid.
He wasn't a bully, he didn't start fights, but he was the bloke that would surely end them.

When we got our mandatory vaccines, he was the only one saying 'ouch' repeatedly after the injection.

This brought up an old memory but I think when my mom was registering me for middle school I had just graduated elementary and was moving up they required a list of vaccinations and you needed to be up to date before they allowed you to attend.

Vaccinations are, or at least used to be, good things. However, MANDATORY vaccination is a barbarous practice. Remember, if you don't own your own body then you're nothing more than a slave. The fact that so many people are willing slaves and want others to become like them as well is really disturbing and alarming.

God bless you all.
User avatar #29 - doombunni (12/25/2015) [-]
Aren't certain vaccinations mandatory? I couldn't go to high school until I had all of my hepatitis shots, and there were certain shots I had to get before I could go to college.
#34 to #29 - drewjitsu (12/25/2015) [-]
yes
User avatar #16 - yunoknow (12/25/2015) [-]
yeah we got our vaccination shots by the school nurse. watching your friends go in one by one, the weaker ones coming out blubbering messes, was definitely the scariest thing ever.
