PRETENDING TO READ THE BIBLES A LIE!. THATS A MARK AGAINST *makes pointing gesture towards the sky*
User avatar #24 to #1 - thefifthdoctor (01/06/2016) [-]
When he goes silent while pointing at the sky really bugs me, it sounds like the dog was suppose to bark early or he was suppose to say God, but its just weird how silent the movie goes.

This is actually rather ironic, considering he's one of the more educated and intelligent people in the series.

There's a clause in the Bible. It basically says if you have no idea what the **** any of this is about, you get a free pass.

Essentially, ignorance of the law is an excuse.

Iv'e never seen any such verse that means that without a huge amount of cherry picking, context ignoring and forcing it to mean something it doesn't.

Techincally from what i remember it's if they never had any opportunity to learn about him they arent judged, like a kid on a deserted island grew up there and died there, never heard of any religions or even understands the concept.

If you've Heard of christianity, then basically you've had a chance to learn, hence you either turn to him or ignore it, and you will be judged.
User avatar #11 to #10 - kennyh (01/06/2016) [-]
I understand the concept. I even taught it myself in sundayschool years ago. But I felt like I was lying because the verses that were used to teach that only mean that if you force them to. Just a way for people to reconcile the fact that god is benevolent but will burn people forever if they had not come though jesus christ who, according to the bible, no man can be saved from damnation without.

ROMANS 2:12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) 16This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.

The long and short of it is every man has done something they feel is wrong. It's up to a men to seek the truth, to find out why they are driven by their consciences. Why we seem to have this perception of shame.

Yeshua when asked what hell was he pointed to a deep pit where human sacrifices formally took place. The misconception of lava and pointy pitchforks comes from the Greek vision of Hades. The afterlife for an atheist according to the Christian teachings of Christ is the same vision an atheist has, nothingness. Hell is to be without God on the other side, your soul, according to such beliefs would just be destroyed. There is no punishment for you in the afterlife in terms of what the misconception portrays. A church's teachings are based on what the pastor says, not every church represents the true teachings of Yeshua of Nazareth. I am a member of the UCC if you were curious about my church.

User avatar #15 to #12 - kennyh (01/06/2016) [-]
Are you mentally ill enough to actually think that what I said in ANY way means "all Christians are bad"?

Or do you just have a persecution complex and have to feel like anyone not just like you is out to get you?
User avatar #18 to #15 - meowmeowman (01/06/2016) [-]
If you follow the teachings of Jesus, truly follow them, 90% of the time you're a decent person.
User avatar #32 to #18 - kennyh (01/07/2016) [-]
I agree. I'm just saying I would rather someone be moral, regardless of their religion, and not pretend that "act Christian" has a monopoly on being moral.
User avatar #34 to #32 - meowmeowman (01/07/2016) [-]
True but it'll be a while before that monopoly is broken.
#20 to #18 - anon (01/06/2016) [-]
Meow has a point. The only bad Christians aren't bad because they're Christians. They're bad because they're bad human beings and use Christianity as an excuse. If there was no religion at all they'd find some other excuse.

So really all this atheism circle-jerking and anti-Christian sentiment all over the place is pretty ******* stupid.

User avatar #33 to #20 - kennyh (01/07/2016) [-]
I said I would rather someone act morally regardless of their religion, you take that to be anti-christian sentiment. I can only assume you have a persecution complex and feel a deep need to feel like anyone who is not exactly like you is out to get you

While Christians often and rightfully get slammed for being oblivious to their own religion, I do not think the tendency for a person to remain willfully ignorant about what they consider important is a strictly Christian phenomenon. Most people I run into seem to give little thought to the world around them so long as they are comfortable. Even then they will only react to the forces that causes them discomfort and denounce them as evil even if they have no basis to do so other than their own pain. Most people are selfish.

There are people who go to church some Sundays, who said a few magic words in front of a congregation to make themselves feel safe from hell. They are selfish. These people usually wont actually read the Bible because whats in it would make anyone uncomfortable. It says we are all failures. Nobody ever wants to feel that they aren't good enough, we want to belong. We people like to point out all of our best qualities as if we are building a resume' for acceptance into society. Unfortunately society is made up of other failures and is doomed to ultimately fail itself. I think most people perceive this but don't know what to do about it. They'd rather distract themselves than try to find a solution.

And then there are the people who go out and try and make a difference who try to solve society's problems. They work hard and try to make their lives count for something. They feel noble in their pursuits. The problem is that they too are just people with limited perspectives and when they try to take the reigns of power to steer us all in a certain direction well, some of us with equal confidence in our own opinions disagree with their vision and stop them. In the end they also face failure but on another scale all together. Imagine what rage these people must feel when confronted by opposite opinions. If a person gathers up enough gumption to take action toward what they believe is true then it must make everyone who disagrees wrong, evil or stupid. And what if they are the ones to be proven wrong after all their work? Can they go on as they have before or do they hide their eyes from reality?

What should a person do then? We all live in a world that we can see has major problems. Do we try to do something about it or do we just try to spend our time pursuing our own comfort and hide when disaster falls. What if we're wrong? The answer I suppose, depends on how important you consider life and how you define it.

Is it just me, or do the popular screen grabs and influential moments from television and movies that get cycled around the internet correlate closely with the most recently added titles on Netflix?
